| The New Hospitals for the South West are part of the Department of Health's (DHSSPS) plans to reform and modernise hospital services across Northern Ireland. The projects include a new £267 million Acute Hospital to be built north of Enniskillen and £190 million investment in a range of new facilities in Omagh, including a new Hospital, Health and Care Centre and Centre for Mental Health. These projects will also be supported with substantial investments in new medical and information technologies. |

| With a total investment of over £450, million the new hospitals will transform health care provision in the South West of Northern Ireland. The new hospitals will be open to patients by 2012. The aims of the New Hospitals Projects are as follows; • To re-design hospital services leading to advanced methods of practice, using the latest technologies, delivered in attractive and well-designed buildings that meet the needs of staff, patients and visitors. • To provide a new Acute Hospital for the South West and a Hospital Complex in Omagh by 2012. |
