Hospital Complex Project |
The new Omagh Hospital Complex, with an approximate capital cost of £190 million, will be located on the site of the existing Tyrone & Fermanagh Hospital on the outskirts of Omagh town. The Complex brings together members of the health care family, moving towards one-stop service provision while offering more services as locally as possible. The result for the patient will be better access to a wider range of services, fewer trips to hospital and reduced waiting times. The new Complex is expected to have around 200 beds in total, with just over 100 beds in the new Omagh Hospital providing urgent care and treatment, general medicine, intermediate care, renal services and day surgery. A new, state of Centre for Mental Health designed to create a holistic healing environment, will lead to the modernization and enhancement of current practice and services. With approximately 100 beds, the mental health facilities will provide acute mental health provision for the adult population in the south west of Northern Ireland, as well as offering psychiatric intensive care, facilities for those with challenging behaviours and an addiction treatment unit. |
Omagh Health & Care Centre will enable primary care staff to offer an increased level of support to patients and provide more care to patients away from a hospital setting and in their own homes.
Based in the centre of the Hospital Complex, the Centre will be the focal point for multi-disciplinary team working and integrate primary care staff with hospital and community health professionals.
The Centre will offer assessment and treatments through day hospital facilities and outpatient clinics.
